‘A New Vision of Printmaking: Printmaking group show’ at Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts, Taipei. (2017)

For this group exhibition I showed the series A Silent Symphony in 7 Movements. These artworks were made on an old piano roll with preprogrammed music recorded on perforated paper over-scored with site specific ship drawings. I created the drawings by suspending a pen over the piano roll from the roof of the interior of my ship MB Rock. The suspended pen acted as a drawing pendulum, tracing the movement of the ship in relation to the wind and the tides or the wake of passing vessels.

The resulting prints are not mimetic of the elements but a residue, an artefact of the transient presence and absence of my fluvial existence on water. They are the passage of time made visible, a palimpsest of a musical movement now stilled.
